Find God’s Dream for YOUR Life!

Dear Mosaic Family and Friends:

We’re beginning a new series this Sunday September 28.  It’s about finding your raison d’etre- your “reason for being”.  Why did God put you on this earth?  How will you find that amazing feeling of fulfilment- that your life is worth living to the fullest?  It’s not an easy process- it rarely falls into your lap- but this is a quest worth seeking.

This fall you’ll hear a lot about EPIC.  We’ve learned some valuable cultural insights from Leonard Sweet’s book, “The Gospel According to Starbucks.”  Leonard is a futurist- and gives a fascinating view into why Starbucks is so successful within our culture.  EPIC stands for Experiential, Participatory, Image-rich, and Connected.

Julie Riling is helping guide a new wave of creativity at Mosaic, using the EPIC theme.  A perfect example happened last Sunday:  Ed Keegan was teaching on finding God’s rhythm for your life- while speaking he played a five foot drum at the pace of a heartbeat- and demonstrated a chaotic rhythm vs. a peaceful rhythm.  The members of his life group came up at the end to join him; they let us experience the beauty and satisfaction of many drums- each with it’s own flavor, in rhythm together.  Awesome message.  Thanks Ed.  It’s written on our hearts now.

If you’re on Facebook- be sure to join the Mosaic Faith Community group.  Over 100 people have joined in the first week.  You’ll see pictures of events, life groups, kids parties- it’s an “image-rich” view of our amazing Mosaic family.

We have an exciting fall 2008 ahead of us

Don’t miss a minute of it!

The new year has begun! (fall 2008)

Dear Mosaic family,

We’re still processing and collecting stories of all the remarkable events at camp.   Send us your experiences!

Meanwhile- I promised this link yesterday at the worship celebration: http://www.ransomedheart.com/community/default.aspx

This link gives you a free chapter from John Eldredge’s book, “Waking the Dead”.  It’s one of the best descriptions I’ve ever seen on the value and urgency of community.  Please, please–download this and read it.  Even if you’ve already read it- read it again.  We’re called to this level of shared lives- and it will make all the difference.

If you’re a facebook member- Michael Mooney set up a Mosaic group today- (thanks Mooney!)  Don’t you love the RIT students?  Join us on facebook- it’s fast and easy to set up an account, and you’ll learn a lot about your Mosaic family!

Have a great week.  Live your faith moment to moment- invite Jesus into all the aspects of your world.

(Larry Turowski at camp- with his big father’s heart!)

One of the most amazing weekends of my life…

Last weekend we had our first Mosaic Camp at Letourneau Conference Center on Canandaigua Lake.  Wow. What a weekend.

About 150 of our 250 members–all ages–participated.  Some people brought tents, others stayed in cabins, a few roughed it at the lodge by the lake.  Especially exciting was the Bethany House where a bunch of young families with babies and toddlers stayed.  (Kudos to Larry Turowski who got up at 3 am with his daughter Sophie, drove her home in Brighton so she didn’t wake everyone in the house up- and was back at 8:30 am for breakfast!  Sophie was smiling…)

Dave & Cheryl Buehring were our guest speakers; Dan and Lori Bourcier came in from Ohio to teach the kids.  The weekend was balanced well with teaching and worship, but loads of time to hang out, sit by the bonfires at night, play at the beach in the afternoons.  Special thanks to Ethan Crist for taking people for boat and tube rides for MANY hours–and for Deb and Todd Huston for bringing your boat over to help Sunday afternoon.

If someone asked me for the best definition of “ministry” and “community”–last weekend was it.  It felt like God was wrapping His big, strong arms around this church family and pouring His love into every person.  We’ve already booked Letourneau for next year- same weekend.  Put it on your calendar now- I think it’s the best event we’ve ever experienced- and it’s bound to get better.

Send me your favorite stories- how did God speak to you?  How did He bring hope or comfort to your heart?  email me: don@mosaicrochester.com with your stories!
